Duration: One year full time fixed-term contract, renewable

Contract: Full time employment contract with Terre des hommes Foundation in Hungary (local contract)

Salary: 353,621 HUF Gross per month (depending on experience)

Location: Budapest. The candidate must be legally eligible to work in Hungary.

Through our innovative protection and health projects, we provide assistance to over three million children and their families in almost forty countries each year. In Europe, Tdh intervenes directly or indirectly in many countries, relying on teams based in Hungary, Albania, Greece, Kosovo, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. The Regional Office in Budapest has been operating since 2006.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance and Administration Assistant supports the Tdh Regional Office in Budapest in various areas of the financial operations, including, but not limited to, the management of the cashbox and accounting books, administration of the Budapest office accounting, the partners financial administration, the compliance checks and the follow-up on the internal policies, the administration of financial documentation and the filing system administration in the office and on the online archiving platform.  

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accounting records on daily basis;
  • Ensure recording of entries (cash, bank and corrective transactions etc.) and allocation of costs to different donor contracts;
  • Perform financial controls to ensure that all expenditures comply with internal procedures;
  • Perform financial controls to verify presence of financial documentation and alignment in correlation with the various cash, bank transaction and allocations of costs to different donor contracts;
  • Support budget follow-up;
  • Support the Senior Finance Officer in the preparation of draft financial reports for Terre des hommes donors;
  • Contribute to the preparation of staff cost calculation sheet and reconciliations of supporting documentations related to staff costs;
  • Assist in the preparation for financial audits;
  • Support the preparation of financial training for the partners;
  • File and maintain proper records for all the above on computer book-keeping package (hard copy and electronic copy);
  • Manage the cashbox, guarantee its security and confidentiality of related information;
  • Deliver cash and prepare cheques for payments, deliver and clear advances in compliance with Tdh procedures;
  • Prepare the closure and the cash inventory report the last working day of the month;
  • Translate the supporting documentation in Hungarian/English.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Finance degree or formule financial training (OKJ);
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience;
  • NGO experience is an asset;
  • Project based accounting experience is an asset;
  • EU project experience is an asset;
  • Interest in acquiring accounting, budgeting, budget monitoring and general ledger skills;
  • Ability to respond to inquiries independently and follow-up on requests in an efficient manner;
  • Ability to handle financial and quantitative information with accuracy and precision;
  • Resourceful in gathering and verifying financial data;
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritizing and administrative skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a multidiscipline and multicultural environment;
  • Good excel skills;
  • Good oral and written skills in English and Hungarian.
